Pottery Sale and Raku Party, Sunday August 16, 2026
For those who haven’t been, we’ll have local potters, abandoned name-your-price pots, paint and fire Raku bits and baubles, and whatever trouble we can muster up between now and then.
What’s Raku? It’s a method of glazing and firing pots, very quickly. In less than an hour you can have a finished glazed piece to take home. We’ll have a variety of 2D tiles that you can make into a magnet or attach a hanger. We’ll also have an assortment of of ring dishes, flowers, candle holders, creepy doll heads, and more. For $10-$15 you can choose a piece to paint. Stick around for the whole process (maybe grab a bite) or we can finish it for you. The best part of Raku is that the pieces are removed from the kiln when they are red hot, then transferred to flammable material such as sawdust, which starts them on fire. They are promptly covered and the resulting smoke and reduction environment produces unexpected results.
