Our retail store is open M-Sat 12-8, closed Tuesday and Sundays. You can pick up take-home clay kits, purchase handmade ceramics, or drop off items to be fired. Classes are temporarily suspended. :(
Friends,
It is with regret that I am canceling classes again. The state has been vague and inconsistent, and I have many opinions about their handling of things, but I can’t argue with the increasing case numbers in San Diego. I’ve been obsessively watching them rise for weeks, and I do think something needs to be done.
The best I can understand, the state is “asking” us to shelter, while shuttering businesses so that people are otherwise forced to stay home because there is nothing else to do. I think this puts an unfair responsibility on business owners to sway public opinion, especially because we can not control how many households are mixing beyond the confines of our establishments. But what’s more unfair is that people are dying because of this damn virus and we still do not understand its lasting effects. We are all tired of these restrictions and long for normalcy, but I am certain our fatigue can barely compare to that of our health care workers.
Ceramic Heights has been enforcing masking and social distancing since we opened back up, and I do believe we can have a safe and fun Muddy Time once the virus is more contained. I know most of you have waited a month or more for wheel times, and that’s what makes this decision all the more difficult. I’m not yet sure how to navigate reservations that have been made for January, and I’ll be taking it day by day; fingers crossed we are only in the throes for a couple of weeks.
When the order is lifted, we will be adding Muddy Time on Sundays, exclusively for people who had their class canceled. And, because we can not be without clay in times like these, I have more clay kits and projects and zoom classes and ways to get your hands dirty and keep your sanity.
If you have a reservation for this upcoming week, I will be contacting you to discuss if you would like a refund or to keep a credit for a later date.
Thank you for your support.
Much love,
Amanda
